June 15, 1990: Remarks made at the Hirshhorn Museum on American Artists in Paris. Technical issues with recording first 2 minutes, but the rest is clear. Start at 10:20 to skip portions of the Irv Lippman interview above. Interesting history of the period including Brancusi & Impasse Ronsin, the founding of Galerie 8 and its first president, Hayward Rivers along with 6 first officers that included Oscar Chelimsky and Jules Olitski, and the first show of sculptor Shinkichi Tajiri and painter John Anderson.


June 4, 2002: Very similar remarks made at the Maryland Library, but with better visibility of the slides and materials.


June 11, 1998: Oscar reviews the paintings in St Maurice d’Ibie, the small French village in the Ardeche where he worked every summer from 1953 to 1970. There are beautiful and private insights into how he worked and what he wanted to achieve in his painting.

In this 3.5 hour interview, Mr Plante covers very interesting and wide array of subjects from Oscar’s perspective of his own art, to his role in the formation of Galerie 8, to the position of the movement of American artists in Paris today. Well worth every minute if these topics are of interest to you.
